Virat Kohli Becomes Mitchell Starc Third Wicket: Virat Kohli departs for seven and becomes Mitchell Starc’s third wicket in the first inning of the second Australia vs India Test match.
The second Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy began today at the Adelaide Oval. It is a day/night Test and is benign with the pink ball, which usually moves around a lot, especially in Australia.
Captain Rohit Sharma, who missed the first Test because of the birth of his child, returns to the side. He, along with Shubman Gill and Ravichandran Ashwin, is now in the playing XI. Rohit won the toss and decided to bat first.
India won the first Test of this five-game series by a massive margin of 295 runs. In the third inning of the match, the Men in Blue put up 487 runs, with Yashasvi Jaiswal and Virat Kolhi scoring centuries.

We tell you this because of how it juxtaposes with the happenings of the ongoing match. On the very first ball of the match, Jaiswal was dismissed for a golden duck by Starc, who caught the youngster’s legs before the wicket.
KL Rahul and Shubman Gill then worked on stabilising the inning. Taking the team score to double-digits, then past 50, then 60. However, in the 19th over of the inning, with India being on 69, a struggling Rahul finally departed and became Starc’s second wicket.
The ball bounced a little more than expected, which resulted in Rahul looking to play towards point but ended up edging the ball, which was caught by Nathan McSweeney at Gully.

This lead to Virat Kohli walking in, who has a fantastic record while playing in Australia and had recently found his form back with a 100 in the first match. He looked fine in the first few balls he played, but that was to change quickly.
Mitchell Starc returned to bowl the 21st over. On the first ball of the over, with the Men in Blue being at 77/2, Virat looked to hit a chest-high ball towards gully but edged the ball with the full face of his bat and was caught by Steve Smith at the second slip. India fell down to 77/3 and looked in trouble. Kohli became Mitchell Starc’s third wicket of the day.
As of writing this, Shubman Gill got out as well after scoring 31 runs. On the first ball of the 22nd over, Scott Boland bowled a ball full and straight, which hit Gill’s pads and he was given out by the umpire. The score now is 81/4.
India now looks in trouble in the second India vs Australia Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Rohit Sharma’s boys will now look to bat for the entire day, which would be a challenge against the fiery pace trio of the Aussies.
