3 Times a Young Bowler Defended Well in IPL 2023, Similar to its previous editions, the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 has brought young players to the forefront. This season has seen an increase in powerplay scores and sixes being hit, but it has also established a unique reputation for its death bowling.

Rinku Singh, a Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) batsman, made headlines for his outstanding performance in the final over against the Gujarat Titans (GT). He hit five consecutive sixes, leading his team to victory. Additionally, young bowlers have also made an impact with their composed performances in the latter stages of the innings.

As Per 3 Times a Young Bowler Defended Well in IPL 2023, During the Mumbai Indians’ (MI) victory over KKR at the Wankhede Stadium, Arjun Tendulkar made his debut as a left-arm seamer with the new ball. In MI’s subsequent win over the SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH), he had the opportunity to display his skills as a death bowler.

#1 Matheesha Pathirana – Chennai Super Kings

After Sisanda Magala got injured, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) included the Sri Lankan pacer in their playing XI. The unorthodox right-arm bowler was then tasked with the challenge of restricting the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batters at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium during the IPL match between the two southern teams.

Pathirana faced the consequences of the high-scoring match as he conceded 28 runs in his initial two overs. However, he made a comeback in the 18th over, which was a crucial point in the game and could have gone either way.

The Sri Lankan bowler displayed his cleverness by skillfully altering his pace and lengths, allowing only four runs. He was then given the responsibility of safeguarding 19 runs in the last over. He is one of the 3 Times a Young Bowler Defended Well in IPL 2023.

Despite being under immense pressure, the 20-year-old kept his cool and remained composed. He gave away only 10 runs in the last six deliveries, successfully restricting Suyash Prabhudessai and Wanindu Hasaranga, ultimately leading to Chennai Super Kings’ victory.

Since being named the Player of the Tournament at the 2022 T20 World Cup, the England all-rounder’s reputation as a dependable death bowler has soared.

After signing a record-breaking ₹18.5 crore deal ahead of the season, Sam Curran has returned to the Punjab Kings (PBKS) as the primary death bowler alongside Arshdeep Singh.

During a match against the Rajasthan Royals (RR), Sam Curran a Young Bowler Defended Well in IPL 2023, Curran was tasked with defending 16 runs in the final over against hard-hitters Dhruv Jurel and Shimron Hetmyer. #3 Umran Malik – SunRisers Hyderabad

During a match against the Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens, the Indian speedster gave away 28 runs in his first over, with Nitish Rana hitting him for six consecutive boundaries.

In the high-scoring IPL encounter, Malik didn’t receive the ball until the final over. Despite having a 32-run cushion to defend, he faced a challenging opponent in the form of the in-form Rinku Singh.

In the final over, he managed to concede only eight runs, taking three dot balls and dismissing Shardul Thakur. By varying his lengths and pace, the right-arm pacer successfully kept KKR from scoring and contributed to SRH’s 23-run victory, following their impressive first innings total of 228 runs.
