Great news! TOPS Approves Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat Request To Train In Kyrgyzstan And Poland, The Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS) by the Sports Ministry has given the green light to Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat, two talented wrestlers, to train in Kyrgyzstan and Poland, respectively.

Exciting news for wrestling fans! Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat Request, two of India’s top wrestlers, have been granted permission by the Sports Ministry’s Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS) to train abroad.

Bajrang will be training in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan for 16 days, while Vinesh will be training at the Olympic Preparation Centre in Spala, Poland for 11 days. The financial assistance provided by TOPS will cover all expenses related to the training, including air tickets, boarding, lodging, training costs, airport transfers, insurance, and out-of-pocket allowances. A press release has confirmed this.

In addition, TOPS will be providing financial assistance for Vinesh’s sparring partner, Sangeeta Phogat, and physiotherapist, Ashwini Jeevan Patil, as well as Bajrang’s coach, Sujeet Maan, physiotherapist, Aanand Kumar, and strength and conditioning expert, Kaazi Kiron Mustafa Hasan. All of their expenses related to the training, including travel, lodging, and other miscellaneous costs, will be covered by TOPS.

The Oversight committee for wrestling has conducted selection trials, and based on the results, a national coaching camp will be held for the Indian team. This camp will prepare the team for their participation in the Senior Asian Championship in 2023.

Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat Request Among others, 108 wrestlers will attend the national camp, which will take place at the Sports Authority of India’s (SAI) Sonipat Regional Centre.

The group of 108 wrestlers attending the national camp will consist of 36 women, 33 Greco-Roman wrestlers, and 39 freestyle wrestlers. This group will also include men’s freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestlers who are already training at SAI Sonepat.
