Blessing is a 28-year-old pace bowler from Zimbabwe. Born in the town of Murewa in Zimbabwe, the pacer played his early cricket in the nation’s capital of Harare. In December 2017, at the age of 21, he made his international debut when he represented his nation in the Boxing Day Test match that year against South Africa.
Blessing made his ODI and T20I debuts in the following weeks. He made his impact on the global stage right after the first wave of the COVID pandemic. In 2020, he took his first five-wicket haul in international cricket against Pakistan. In that same match, he took two wickets in the Super Over to win his team the match.
He also has a few records to his name. In 2025, he became the fastest Zimbabwean to take 50 Test wickets, getting to the milestone in just 11 matches, the same time as Indian pace sensation Jasprit Bumrah.
As for his experience in franchise cricket in Asia, Blessing represented the Multan Sultans in PSL 2021. That year, he took 10 wickets in just six games. He has previously been with the Lucknow Super Giants camp in the IPL as a net bowler.
Blessing, aesthetically, is a perfect fast bowler. The 6’8” tall pace bowler brings his arm down from a high trajectory. However, not only does he generate quick pace and high bounce, but he also has a lot of lateral movement, making him a threat to any batter in the world.
The 28-year-old will represent Zimbabwe in a four-day Test match against England from May 22 to 25. Then, from May 26, he will be available for selection into the squad in the playoffs.
