Cristiano Ronaldo is in phenomenal form. The 39-year-old has been showing off a performance that is defying his age. After becoming the top scorer of the world last year by scoring more than 60 goals, Ronaldo is not even near to any slowdown.
Recently, the Portuguese superstar reached a unique milestone to become the first footballer to score 900 goals in senior professional football. The world’s highest goalscorer in history extended his lead by scoring a 91st-minute winner that extended his goals to 901. The Greatest had recently said that he would try to achieve the 1000-goal mark before hanging up his boots.
Players Think CR7 Will Cross 1000 Goals
After the UEFA Nations League match against Scotland, Portugal’s Manchester United star Bruno Fernandez, who also found himself on the scoresheet last night, thinks that Ronaldo is still a difference-maker at his age. Bruno also believes that Cristiano will reach the 1000-goal mark
“The influence is always the same, regardless of whether he starts on the bench or not. Everyone who came on made a difference. Cristiano has a goal, today he scored his 901st and now he is on his way to a thousand, which is what he wants.”
Another player from Portugal, Ruben Neves, who also plays in the Saudi Pro League doesn’t doubt that Cristiano will reach the unique mark in football.
“Of course it is possible. He is already on goal 901 and with Cristiano anything is possible.”
Manchester United legend Roy Keane thinks that Ronaldo is still one of the best in the world in front of the goal despite having a slow Euro.
“That was a bit of an issue. [Referring to his lack of impact at Euro 2024]. But (he’s reached) 900 goals. If you put the ball in those areas he’s still the best in the world.”
Cristiano Ronaldo will be back in his Al-Nassr shirt when his team faces Al Ahli Saudi in their third match of the Saudi Pro League on 13 September.
