Real Madrid Scouting Young Bournemouth Defender: European giants Real Madrid are reportedly after 19-year-old Bournemouth defender Dean Huijsen, as bringing in Arsenal’s William Saliba remains unlikely for a defensive overhaul for Los Blancos.
It was reported by Spanish news outlet AS a few days ago that Real Madrid is looking to rebuild their defensive unit after injuries to several players like David Alaba, Dani Carvajal, and Eder Militao.

Arsenal star defender Saliba looked like the perfect choice. The Frenchman has been one of the best defenders in the world for the past couple of seasons, clearly among the best in the Premier League.
However, with a rise in form and status comes a rise in price and a reduction in the player’s availability to other clubs. The 23-year-old, being a massive part of the squad in their back-to-back title challenges, is quite valuable to Arsenal. Not only is he one of the highest-valued players in the league, but he will play a crucial role if the Gunners are to win a title anytime soon.
So, with Saliba out of the question, Real’s eyes wander to their other choice, that being Dean Huijsen. The 19-year-old, tall and lanky, defender from the Netherlands came up in Juventus’ youth system. He was then loaned to Roma, where he showed promise before being signed by AFC Bournemouth.
Since signing a six-year deal with Bournemouth in July of this year, Dean has played 12 games for the Cherries and has even scored two goals. Recently, he has become a regular in the squad, as the team that was predicted to be in a relegation battle currently sits at sixth in the Premier League at around the halfway point of the season.
With a projected transfer fee of around 19 million Euros, Huijsen will not be the cheapest youngster on the market. But he will be a future investment if Real Madrid ends up bringing him on their side.
Not only Dean Huijsen, Real Madrid is also keen on signing a Brazilian wonderkid from Palmeiras, Vitor Reis. It was also understood that the defending UEFA Champions League champions were also looking to sign Aymeric Laporte, but he is no longer being scouted by the club due to his age and price tag.
Real Madrid currently sits second in La Liga at 40 points in 18 games, right behind Atletico Madrid. They are also a dismal 20th in the UCL with three wins and three losses in six games.
