UEFA Champions League 2024-25 Draw: We are mere hours away from the UEFA Champions League draw for the 2024-25 season league phase. Let’s answer some of the biggest questions regarding the draw.
The event will take place in Monaco’s Grimaldi Forum on August 29 at 4:00 pm FMT (9:30 pm IST) and will see 36 teams not be divided into any groups but determine whom they will face off against in the league phase.
UEFA Champions League 2024-25 Draw
The UCL has adopted the new ‘Swiss Model’ this season. Earlier, 32 teams would be divided into eight groups of four, where each team would face each other twice, once home and once away, and the top two teams would make it out of the group.
Now there will be 36 teams in the tournament, all of which will be in one giant table. Currently, the teams are divided into four pots of nine teams each. During the draw, the opponents of each team will be decided. Every team in the competition will face eight different teams in the league phase, these being two teams from each pot. While every team will face four teams at their home, they will face four teams away. And no teams will play each other twice.
These teams have been divided into these pots based on their UEFA coefficient. This ensures that each team will get to face teams of all qualities in the league phase.
The top eight teams will automatically qualify for the round of 16. While teams finishing 9th to 24th will compete in a playoff for the Round of 16. The bottom 12 teams will be eliminated from the competitions, not even falling down to the Europa League or Conference League. From that point on, the competition will proceed the way it has done over the years.
Real Madrid will go into the competition as the defending champion and are thus in Pot One. But here is how the pots are lined up:

The UEFA Champions League 2024-25 League Draw, which will be held at 9:30 pm IST tonight, can be seen on the Sony Sports Network and Sony LIV App/Website. The league will commence on September 17, and the league stage, which will have eight Matchdays, will finish on January 29.
