Aakash Chopra Criticises Ravindra Jadeja Innings: Cricketer-turned-broadcaster Aakash Chopra has come out and criticised Ravindra Jadeja’s innings for Chennai Super Kings against Lucknow Super Giants.
CSK took on LSH in Match 34 of IPL 2024 in Lucknow’s Ekana Stadium. While batting first, the Men in Yellow notched up a respectable but below-par (for this season) score of 176.
While it was MS Dhoni’s quickfire 28-off-9 that pushed the team to that score, the foundation of the whole innings was built by Jadeja, who was the only batter to cross the 50-run mark in the innings as he scored 57-off-40.

While the star all-rounder finally scored some good runs in the tournament, they came at a very slow pace. For some who were the backbone of the CSK innings, Jaddu scored at a relatively slow strike rate of 142.5.
In contrast, LSG captain KL Rahul scored 82-off-53 while chasing with an S/R of over 150. This complemented what was another slow 50 but in the LSG innings scored by Quinton de Kock who scored 54 in 43 balls.
The Super Giants did end up winning the match by eight wickets with six balls to spare.
Aakash Chopra Criticises Ravindra Jadeja Innings
Aakash Chopra, who can be heard on commentary throughout IPL on JioCinema, reviewed the match on his YouTube channel. In the video, he shared his opinion on Ravindra Jadeja’s innings against LSG and reckoned that the 35-year-old failed to accelerate at the end.
“Jaddu had to be sent up the order. Jaddu scored a fifty and stayed unbeaten till the end as well but he couldn’t accelerate in the end the way you expect from him. If you have been sent at No. 4, got to bat almost in the powerplay and you stay till the end, you should score 70-80 runs in 40 balls. The thinking is like that but he didn’t reach there,” said Chopra.
Despite losing the match, CSK is still third in the points table with eighth points in seven matches. On the other hand, LSG is still in fifth with the same number of points in the same amount of matches, but with a worse net run rate.
These two sides will play their next match against each other in what will be a rematch on home soil for CSK. On April 23, the Super Kings will take on LSG one more time in Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium.
