Most Orange Caps in IPL History: One of the constants of the IPL since its inception, in 2008, has been the orange and purple caps. The orange cap is awarded to the leading run-scorer of the tournament, and the purple cap is awarded to the leading wicket-taker of the season.
In the case of a tie, that is, when two batters have the same number of runs, the one with the higher strike rate is given preference, while in the case of two bowlers having the same number of wickets, the one with the better economy is above.
So far, in the 16 IPL seasons, there have been 13 different winners of the orange cap. Only once has a player won the orange cap three times, and another one has won it twice, while there were 11 other winners.

Former Sunrisers Hyderabad captain and opener David Warner has won the Orange cap three times in his IPL career: in 2015, 2017, and 2019. Warner is the only batsman in IPL history to win Orange cap three times, while Chris Gayle is the only one with two orange caps that he won in 2011 and 2012 while playing for RCB.
Rest, in the other 11 seasons, 11 different batters claimed this prize.
Australian Shaun Marsh won the orange cap in the inaugural IPL season in 2008. Sachin Tendulkar, the former Mumbai Indians captain, was the first Indian to win the Orange cap. The Master Blaster did it in 2010, when he was instrumental in MI reaching the final, which they lost to CSK.

RCB legend and opener Virat Kohli holds the record for the highest number of runs in a single IPL season. Kohli scored an unbelievable 973 runs in the 2016 IPL season, where he led RCB to the final, but they lost the final to Warner’s SRH. Kohli’s four centuries in 2016 are also, hitherto, the most number of hundreds a batter has hit in a single IPL season.
Young Indian batters Shubman Gill (2023) and Ruturaj Gaikwad (2021) left a huge impression recently by finishing at the top of the run charts in recent seasons.
