Craig Jones and Volkanovski Poke Islam Makhachev: After an unexpected turn of events, Alex Volkanovski will be fighting Islam Makachev in UFC 294 following the exit of Charles Oliveira due to injury. The event will take place on October 21. Volkavovski will have to step into the octagon 11 days after the decision came, and the world is excited for another amazing fight between two of the best fighters in the world.
Craig Jones and Volkanovski Poke Islam Makhachev
Following the announcement of the fight, Alexander Volkanovski’s Brazilian jiu-jitsu coach, Craig Jones, found time to poke the lightweight champion. In a recent Instagram post, Craig called the sambo ‘fake’, and will be proving it in the octagon in Abu Dhabi.
“I got the call at 3 a.m. this morning. Volk said we might have a rematch on 12 days’ notice. He’s like, ‘When’s the earliest you can get to Australia?’ Here we are on the next flight down, rematch Islam Makhachev, once again proving Sambo is fake.”
During the first fight, Islam Makachev faced problems taking down Alex Vokanovski. Though he had scored the most takedowns in the fight, it was visible that the Dagistani wrestler didn’t have a seamless experience securing them. It was also due to the lesser rehydration time he got after the weigh-in due to the time difference in Australia.
BREAKING NEWS: Islam Makachev vs Alex Vokanovski for UFC 294
Craig’s comments on Sambo also paint a bigger picture. Islam Makachev once said that the Brazilian Sabmbo is better than Jui-Juitsu. He was not just saying it but also underlining it by ragdolling Jui-Juitsu guys along his career. He had also submitted UFC former champion Charles Oliveira, who holds the record for most submissions in UFC. These things might have poked the ego of Craig, who reminds Islam that Abu Dhabi wouldn’t be so easy for him.
“I love this s**t”: Volkanovski Reacts to the Fight with Islam
Alexander Volkanovski took to Instagram to share a four-word reaction following the announcement of his second fight with lightweight champion Islam Makachev. The Australian, in a recent post on Instagram, quoted just four words: “I love this s**t.”
