Will Cristiano Ronaldo Win Euros Golden Boot: Cristiano Ronaldo will represent Portugal in the upcoming 2024 Euros. While the footballing icon might be in the twilight of her career, he has shown time and time again that he has still got it.
Portugal will kick off their campaign in the 2024 UEFA Euro on June 19 the 2016 champions will take on the Czech Republic. The Portuguese will be in a relatively easy Group F comprising Czechia, Turkiye (Turkey), and Georgia, and should make it out of the group with ease.
But the question is, how will Cristiano Ronaldo perform in what might be his last attempt to win another trophy with Portugal and will most definitely be his final campaign at the Euros?
Now the five-time Ballon d’Or winner no longer plays his club football in Europe, many believe that he is no longer an elite-level striker, some going as far as to call him “washed.”
Will Cristiano Ronaldo Win Euros Golden Boot
But what if we tell you that not only will Ronaldo be able to keep up with some of the best in the world at this tournament, but he will also be a strong contender for the Golden Boot, which a player gets for scoring the most goals in the competition.

What makes us say that, well, stats and facts of course. Let’s start with the fact that CR7 had the most goal contribution in the world in the 2023/24 season at the club level. Playing for Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League, Cristiano scored a whopping 35 goals and assisted 11 for a total of 46 goal contributions in just 31 games.
While Harry Kane, who is at the peak of his career, scored one more goal than Ronaldo with 36 for Bayern Munich in 32 appearances, he assisted three fewer for a total of 44 goal contributions.
While the Saudi Pro League might not be on par with the biggest European leagues, it has still seen a vast improvement in talent quality over the past few years and can stand shoulder-to-shoulder with at least the idle-of-the-road leagues in Europe.
But some people would question Cristiano Ronaldo’s achievements with Al-Nassr, so how about we look at how good he has done for Portugal in recent times? We are looking forward to the EUFA Euro 2024, so let us see who were the highest scorers in the European qualifiers.

The top five is made up of – Romelu Lukaku at first with 14 goals, Kylian Mbappe at third with nine, Harry Kane at fourth with eight, and Rasmus Hojlund and Scott McTominay at fifth with seven.
But who is second on the list, right above Mbappe, well it’s Ronaldo of course with an impressive tally of 10 goals in nine appearances.
His high goal tally in the qualifiers also shows a couple of things – the trust of manager Roberto Martinez on him, and how good is the Portugal front and middle line.
Martinez was named the Portugal manager in January 2023 after his troubled but successful stint with the Belgian national team. In the 2022 World Cup, the then manager had seemingly ousted Ronaldo from the playing 11 amidst what was a tumultuous period in Cristiano’s career, as it was then when he was also removed from the Manchester United squad by Eric Ten Hag.
But since Martinez has been put in charge, he has regularly played Ronaldo, showing trust in someone who is still an elite poacher.
As for his support unit in the Portugal team, he has some of the best midfielders and strikers at his disposal, the likes of Bruno Fernandes, Rafael Leao, Joao Felix, Jesus Navas, and Joao Cancelo feeding him balls for the full 90 minutes.
With him being fed good against weaker opposition in their group at the Euros, Cristiano Ronaldo might be up to 4-5, maybe even six goals in the group stage itself. Then just a couple of goals in the knockouts, as Portugal is one of the favorites to win Euro 2024, will bag him the Golden Boot, making him the oldest player by far to win this award.
